A physical machine has been down since 9.03 yesterday, the 6th og April 2021. We are working on repairs and to get VPSs and shared hosting customers up on new hardware.
Network failure

On March 9th between 23.00 and 23.40 we experienced an outage in one data center resulting in breach of accessibility Confidentiality and Integrity of data was not affected. The reason for this outage was a disconnect between two switches because of a malfunction in VPC setup. It took a while to figure out the cause, hence the time length of the outage. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Finally, finally, the report on the system crash 1984 Hosting Company experienced in November of 2017 is ready. It has been tough for a small company to conduct an investigation into such a complicated issue. Hence the delay of this report for which we apologize. But here we finally are.

Electrical outage

Our service went out somewhat briefly 11 July 2019. From 6-7 pm GMT our Upstream network provider had an electrical outage that affected their core equipment. Unfortunately 1984 and our customers were effected by the outage. Service was restored at 18:50 GMT and has been running bjútífully since. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Web mail misconfiguration

We hereby announce a systems incident spanning the time frame from April 11th to May 29th 2019. A default setting in a new web mail client which in some cases caused outgoing mail not to be saved to the "Sent" folder, as tradition dictates.
This setting was discovered in the late afternoon on May 27th and reparation was finalised at 10.04 GMT on May 28th. This setting may have effected the saving of outgoing mail from mail users using the web mail client named "Try the new beta Roundcube!" from April 11th to May 24th on the 1984 webmail site and those that used the default web mail client from May 24th until 10.04 on May 28th.

System maintenance

Tomorrow, Thursday the 23rd of May 2019, between 10:00 and 12:00 GMT, an emergency maintenance procedure will be performed on a limited amount of network equipment in our data center. If you are hosted on that equipment you will receive an email today. We do not expect this maintenance procedure to have any effect on services or connectivity, however this announcement is sent for your information and in the unlikely event of any unforseen incident during the maintenance procedure.

Vulnerability Management

1984 takes security seriously as well as its duty to provide information to its customers.
On Thursday, April 18th 2019, 1984 Hosting Company was made aware of a security breach by a Security Researcher. The breach involved possible accessibility to logs that contain personally identifiable information, such as email and IP addresses. No passwords or sensitive personally identifiable information were affected by this breach.
1984 responded promptly and secured the logs by closing the leak and thus possibility of access to the afore-mentioned logs within 20 min from being made aware of the breach.
We have not detected any impact on our clients. No action is needed from you at this time. You do not need to do anything to secure your account.
Subsequently, 1984 Hosting Company followed its security procedures has not found in its available logs any unknown access breach, we continue to work on this and will update our customers if any such information will come to light.
We are extremely sorry that this happened, are consoled by the fact that our response procedures work as intended and will continue to assess and review our operations to ensure you the best security possible.
